For many people marriage is something so special that they want to have the opportunity to ask God to support them and bless them as they marry, so getting married in church is very appropriate. One of the clergy will take the service but you are free to involve friends and family where this is appropriate.
For those who are planning to get married we offer a marriage preparation course. This will help you to be ready for some of the joys and pitfalls ahead!
To be married at Christ Church you need to be a regular member of the church, to live in our parish area (contact the Church Office for details) or to have a qualifying connection with the church (eg if your parents worship here or you were a member in the past). If one of the partners marrying has been married already and their former spouse is still living, we are very pleased to offer a service of blessing after civil marriage, to express God’s new start and to pray for your marriage.
For further information on marriage and getting married at Christ Church, please contact the Vicar. The Church of England website also has a great deal of useful information on arranging a church wedding.
