Richard James: Vicar

Vicar of Christ Church since 2000. Before coming to Cockfosters Richard worked at a church in Bristol having first trained as a doctor. His role is to lead the church here, where he focusses on preaching and teaching, leading the PCC and staff team, and outreach. He is also a Director of Ordinands in London Diocese, and Vice Chair of Governors at Trent School. He is married to Carole, who supports him and also helps lead several areas of church, and they have four children. Richard plays classical guitar and veterans’ hockey in his spare time!

James Knowles: Associate Vicar

James joined Christ Church in September 2016 as Associate Vicar, moving from Ongar in Essex where he completed his curacy. He trained for ordination at Oak Hill College so has returned to North London, although he is originally from Sydney, Australia, where he met his wife Tash (although she is English!). James and Tash returned to the UK in 2008 and have two young children. James loves football and cricket and sports banter  – just don’t mention the recent Olympics! He is responsible for small groups.

Greg Bannister: Curate / Director of Youth and Student Ministry

Before starting at Christ Church, Greg trained for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge where he also met Sophie his wife. He has also worked for churches in Cambridge, Wimbledon, New York, Central London and Hull!  In a past life he used to be a school teacher.  Having supported Everton from the age of 6 has brought its fair share of ups and downs (mostly downs if he is honest!).  He enjoys cooking, eating, photography and makes up for his lack of talent at sport with enthusiasm.

Michael Andrews: Director of Music

Michael joined us in January 2014 after two years as Music Director of a church in Highbury following studying music at university in London. He enjoys leading bands and conducting choirs and orchestras, and plays several instruments as well as arranging and composing music. He married his wife Suzi in February 2017.

Will Harvey: Children’s Minister

Will joined Christ Church in Feb 2016 as Children’s Minister. Before coming to Cockfosters, he studied Maths at Bath University, worked as a Ministry Apprentice at St Bartholomew’s church in Bath, an accountant at Nationwide, and a Software Engineer for a medium sized business. Will and his wife Jess were married in 2012. They now have a baby daughter called Imogen, who is very smiley and tremendous fun! He looks after the ministry with 0-10 year olds at Christ Church, his passion is to see children put their trust in Jesus and become faithful disciples as they grow up.

James Morrey – Office Manager

James joined Christ Church in February 2016 as the Office Manager.  Before moving to Cockfosters James studied History & Politics at Exeter University, worked as a Ministry Assistant at St. James’ Church Muswell Hill and then in a variety of roles within the Crown Prosecution Service, finally becoming a Business Manager in a Magistrates’ Court Team.  After leaving the CPS he worked for a national Housing Association.  James enjoys history (especially that of the church), detective stories, and a well-organized office!

Glenn Mewton: Christ Church House Manager

Glenn has been on the team for  twenty-five years. His role includes maintaining our buildings in good order and general assistance to groups using them. He is married to Glynes and they have two grown up children and a young granddaughter.

Matt Lanstone: Treasurer

Matt Lanstone is Treasurer at Christ Church. Having initially trained as a Chartered Accountant, Matt has worked in the City for over 20 years, the last 10 of which as a Partner of a large US investment firm. He is involved in a number of other roles at Christ Church including leading a Small Group. In what little time remains Matt enjoys family time with his wife, Jacs, and their three boys as well as cycling, running and learning to be a good dog owner.
